READING INTO THE PAST .....
What they never taught me in teacher school.
New Jewish Books
Exploring what it means to be Jewish
Hmmm…I thought I left a comment on this when I read it. I read the LATimes article and the jukraine.com (that autocorrected 3 times) article and loved them. I’m doing my genealogy and going to places my ancestors lived. But that’s only in the U.S. and I never thought to inquire in those towns if there are people who might be distant cousins.
But I can’t imagine what it would be like to return to a town where my ancestors had been forced to live because Jews had to live there under Russian Imperial law.
This was powerful reading. Wonderful.

Thank you! It’s always startling to read about it all even if I had grown up hearing some of the stories

It must seem more real somehow. Which is crazy since we should believe our grandparents lol. But somehow seeing it in print gives validation. Truly remarkable story.
